Trabzon
Trabzon is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey.
Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the EMPIRE TREBIZON between 1204 and 1461. During the early modern period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, became a focal point of trade to Iran and the Caucasus.
Trabzon is considered as an important destinations for huge number of tourists due to impressive cultural heritage in addition to a wonderful nature.
Within Trabzon ,the main attraction are the SUMELE MONASTERY and THE UZUNGOL LAKE.
The monastery was built on the side of a very steep mountain overlooking the green forest bolow and is about 50 kilometres south of the city. Uzungol is famous for the natural beauty of the area and the amazing scenery.
Other important sites of interest in the broader region include: VAZELON MONASTERY, KAYMAKLI MONASTERY.
